Top 5 Live Action Disney Movies

Disney has been hitting it big with it's live action films, especially the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise.  So I've decided to share my Top 5 favorite live action Disney films.

#5-The Mighty Ducks
This is a favorite for kids growing up in the 90's.  Emilion Estevez easily made the switch from Breakfast Clubber to Pee Wee hockey coach as Gordon Bombay.  This group of young actors have largely disappeared into the Hollywood abyss, but Joshua Jackson went on to much bigger and better things, and a young Kenan Thompson appears in the second and third films in the franchise as the rare black hockey player from the hood.  Who would have thought!?

#4-Old Yeller
This is probably the saddest Disney film to date.  Old Yeller tells the story of a heroic dog who saves the lives of his owners on more than one occasion, but (spoiler alert) he gets rabies and dies.  Big tearjerker for women.  Men not so much.

#3-Cool Runnings
One of my favorite sports movies tells the fictionalized true story of the first Jamaican bobsled team.  This film is still hilarious largely due to Doug E. Doug's performance and John Candy's washed up portrayal of the team's American coach.

#2-Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
This film launched one of the most successful film franchises in history, spawning 3 sequels, 2 of which grossed over $1 billion.  Johnny Depp introduces Captain Jack Sparrow and has become one of the most iconic Disney characters of recent memory.  The action and swashbuckling stunts are incredible.  Too bad the other 3 movies in the series are awful.

#1-Remember the Titans
As a former high school football player, this film inspired me as well as many young athletes across the country.  Denzel Washington and Will Patton form a great team and leads this diverse football team to an unlikely championship despite the racial barriers.  This movie is just as exciting with every viewing.
